Help

How do I cancel my subscription?
In your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Wrestle with God. Cancel at least a day before it renews.
I subscribed on another iPhone.
On the subscribe screen or in Settings, tap Restore.
It says I've sat with Hannah a long while today.
Each subscription has a generous daily limit. It resets every day at midnight UTC.
Something Hannah wrote was wrong or hurtful.
Press and hold her words and choose Report, with or without a subscription. We read every report.
Is Hannah a real person?
No. Hannah is a fictional character voiced by an AI model. She isn't God, a pastor, a priest or a counselor, and she can be wrong. Her free words for each chapter, the verse of the day and the ready-made meditations were written once by the same model, checked against the Bible, and are the same for everyone.
How do I delete my data?
Everything you write is kept only on your iPhone. Delete conversations, entries and saves in the Journal, and the things Hannah remembers in Settings › What Hannah remembers, or delete the app to remove everything (the random identifier in your iPhone's Keychain stays until you reset the phone; it isn't linked to you). To delete a report you sent, email us roughly when you sent it and a few of its words. See the privacy policy for the rest.
Her voice won't download.
It's about 330 MB, downloaded once. Try again on Wi-Fi with some free space.

How the app responds to a crisis

Wrestle with God is not a crisis service, and Hannah is not a counselor. But someone may tell her they're in danger, so this is what the app does, published as the law in some places asks.

What it notices
Words and phrases that suggest someone may want to die, harm themselves or someone else, or isn't safe (for example "I want to end it", "I'm a burden", "everyone's better off without me", "I'm not safe at home"), wherever you type to Hannah: talking with her, a meditation's theme, Ask, and asking a meditation to turn toward something. This is checked on your iPhone, before anything is sent, by matching whole words and phrases. When you talk with her, the AI is also asked whether what you wrote suggests danger, as a second check.
What it shows
A card with help where you live, chosen from your iPhone's region: 988 (call or text) in the US and Canada, Samaritans 116 123 in the UK and Ireland (and text SHOUT to 85258 in the UK), Lifeline 13 11 14 in Australia, 1737 in New Zealand, Tele-MANAS 14416 in India, SADAG 0800 567 567 in South Africa, Samaritans of Singapore 1767, the NCMH Crisis Hotline 1553 in the Philippines, and findahelpline.com everywhere, with the local emergency number. Hannah sets everything else aside, tells you gently that your life matters and that she's glad you said so, and urges you to reach someone who can be with you now. No sermon. The same help is one tap away on every screen where Hannah speaks, and is shown if a request to her fails.
Never behind a paywall
Crisis help works with or without a subscription, without agreeing to send anything to the AI, without a connection, and whatever the daily limit. It is never locked.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't contact anyone, or send anything anywhere because of what you wrote, and Hannah is told never to remember thoughts of self-harm or crisis. Matching words can miss things or misread them; if you're in danger, please call a line above or your emergency number directly.

Hannah is an AI

Each conversation with Hannah opens with a short note that she's an AI character, not a person, and the note comes back every three hours in a long conversation. If you ask her, she'll say so plainly.
